FIRST GRADE

The first grade has 25 boys and 10 girls. Tuesday we had a new little girl come to our school.
Her name is Betty Lou Hite from Walkerton. We are reading about Dick and Jane. We have finished our first book, BEFORE
WE READ.
SECOND GRADE We have 17 boys and 22 girls in our room this year. Ruth Marie Long, Linda Jones, Kenneth
Haynes, Larry Burcher, and Alan McGill are new in our school this year.
We have been studying WAYS TO RIDE in Social Studies. Soon we plan to have a Miniature Transportation show.
We are enjoying our newly painted room very much. We are having fun on the new play ground equipment, too.

The third grade room is very evenly divided, fourteen girls and fifteen boys. The
attendance is but three days short of being perfect, that is 3:493. They are all doing nice work.
FOURTH GRADEThere are 36 in our fourth grade this year. We have twelve children who have earned an A
in spelling this year. Ten of these children are girls and two are boys.
We have had only one absence this year. We hope Billy Ross will be able to return Monday morning.
Kathern Biggins was 9 years old last week and had a birthday party at her home for all the girls in our class.
Our class has enjoyed playing on the new "pyramid" very much during those first fall days.

PREVIOUS
FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADE
The grades are quite evenly divided with 25 in the fifth and 26 in the sixth grade. The sexes
are likewise 25 boys and 26 girls.
The sixth grade enjoy their classes in arithmetic and history, under Mr. Sullivan. The fifth grade are busily working on their leaf collections for science class. They are going to mount their leaves in booklets.
The first ball game with Teegarden ended with the score 14 to 13 in favor of Teegarden. The Tyner boys hope to change things in the next game on October 10.
The new pupils to join our ranks are Dennis and Robert Hayes from Rochester, Eddie Long from Plymouth, and Ronald Renz who formerly went to Teegarden School. We welcome these boys to our school.
The spelling contest between the two grades is rather one-sided, with the score at the end of the third week standing at 196 for the fifth and 136 for the sixth grade. What's the matter, SIXTH GRADE?
